Sandhills Community Primary School has been upgraded to a Good rating in its first inspection since joining RLT.

The school had been rated Inadequate in a 2018 inspection, after which the school joined RLT.

Inspectors from Ofsted visited Sandhills Community Primary School before Christmas.

In their report, released last week, they found Sandhills to be a “welcoming community” and a “nurturing school” where pupils feel “happy and safe”.

The report added: “Pupils adore their teachers and trust that staff will look after them. Staff and pupils get on really well and treat each other with courtesy and kindness.

“Parents are overwhelmingly supportive of this inclusive and improving school.”

Sandhills headteacher Emma Coleman said: ”I am just so pleased for my staff, for the parents and for the children.

“We have all worked incredibly hard for this and everyone involved should be extremely proud.

“We have felt for some time that we are a good school, but it is important to have Ofsted make it official.

“We are delighted that Ofsted recognised what a safe and happy place the school is, but also that inspectors identified the breadth of opportunities that our children receive and the quality of teaching.”

RLT chief executive Paul James said: “This is great news for Emma Coleman and the fantastic team she has built.

“We are delighted too for the parent body and the community of Sandhills, both of which have been very supportive of the school on its journey of improvement.

“All communities deserve a great primary school at their heart, and we are proud to be able to provide that for Sandhills.”
